Bespoke Fitted Home Office Library

This project in Chiswick has been made with the idea of the stylish and highly practical workspace with a bespoke fitted home office library, designed and crafted to make the maximum use of the available wall space. This made-to-measure fitted library combines generous open shelving with concealed storage, creating a fully bespoke and organised solution for books, files, display items and everyday office essentials.

The design features a substantial wall-to-wall fitted storage unit, tailored to the proportions of the room and the requests of the client. The customer had the specific shelf height in mind to make sure it fits the required items perfectly.

The fitted library is divided in several sections with the top and middle one coming with symmetric compartments, while the ones on the sides – asymmetric adding a bit of a twist to the minimalistic look of the unit. Overall the made-to-to-measure storage units can be used as a library or a home office storage for keeping the books, ornaments, artwork, photographs, decorative accessories, files, folders etc. The carefully thought through layout gives the fitted storage unit a minimalistic look while ensuring that the storage remains practical and easy to access.

Under the open shelving, a set of hinged door storage sections is fitted. The lower cabinets are made for keeping office equipment, paperwork and personal belongings neatly organised and out of sight. Contemporary thin handles complement the clean lines of the unit overall and maintain the minimalist appearance of the overall design.

The neutral grey-toned finish creates a sophisticated backdrop that works particularly well with the natural timber flooring and light walls. The muted colour of the high quality MFC laminated board makes the shelving and displayed items part of the room’s overall design without overwhelming the space. This home office library provides a combination of open display shelving and enclosed cupboards, offering both accessible and concealed storage in a single integrated installation, which would not be possible with the freestanding ready-made furniture.
